Allotment trip in the morning.  Planting cabbages and kale, harvesting broad beans and Sun burn!

Saturday, June 25, 2011

Dropped Karin, Lottie and Dan off with bikes just south of Bakewell and drove to the end of the Monsal Trail.  I headed south walking with Peggy, passed them the car key somewhere around Priestcliffe, then waited for them with a pint at Monsal Head.  The tunnels are fab.

will try and find my jumping pics

Cup of tea in bed, a country music cd, Raving rabbids for the Wii, and Paul on DVD :-)

A few hours on the allotment transplanting the beans before coming home to watch Paul.

Saturday trip to Harland Edge, using the new Peak District Bouldering guide with Marc, Sam and Sharon.  Not somewhere I'd been before and ideal given the small window of opportunity with the weather.  Fine rock, good views, bilberries and plenty of easy problems.  Back via Matlock Bath where we caught up with Dan on the slalom course as the rain started.

Evening out for a Mexican to celebrate Simon's birthday.

After a hard week had potentially the last heavy workshop session followed by an hour of Shiatsu.  Back in a fortnights time to check how things are going.

Rather a wet and miserable day.  Family get together at Gradbach to bury my Mum's ashes next to Dad's mulberry tree.  Planted some Fox gloves and Jacob's Ladder.

Lottie and Dan found a way of keeping dry, unlike Peggy!

Adjourned to Trish's Teas at Newstones for Tea and Rhubarb & Strawberry Pie.

Late start to the day
before heading down the allotment, more spuds and various squashes, pumpkins planted.

Evening trip to Willersley with Dave.
Managed to struggle my way up Pleasure Dome after becoming pumped stupid after about ten feet.

Noticed a couple of new additions, a shiny looking peg on Lime Street to protect the crux. May have been one here a long time ago, its mentioned in the old Derwent Valley Guide but I dont remember a peg being in it in the early 80's when I first did the route, which would explain the upgrade to E1 in Peak Limestone South? Seems a backwards step to be honest, and suspect it will be difficult to remove without damaging the rock.

Speaking of damaged rock here is a picture of Sumerian's Wall, False Idol (should that be Fallen Idol) and return of the Giant Hogweed. RIP.

Delivered a presentation to the Trent Dysphagia SIG this morning, hard work looking back on the last 18 months, but nice to see a few of the Speech Therapists that have helped me out. Interesting talk before hand by a Doctor that made me realise how lucky I've been with my recovery.

Visit to see the Neuropsychologist this morning, looks as if I'm doing all the right things at the moment and will have another appointment in the next few months to check things are still OK. Afternoon at work followed by kayaking for Dan although not much kayaking happened mainly playing on the slide.
