3 hours at work this morning then home to do a few more hours.  Dan returns home with a headache and sore throat so we both end up having an easy evening.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

9 until 3.30 today at work, must be feeling better. Watched The Asgard Project with Dan,  some impressive rock, base jumping and northern lights.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Worked until nearly 2pm today.  Then home for a rest and to sort out the car insurance.

Monday, September 27, 2010

Successful Heavy Workshop this morning feeling much better than I have done in a while.  1238m on rowing machine similar to what I was doing in July but a slightly slower pace on the treadmill.
Evening at the wall with Dan.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Allotment this morning.  Pallet compost bin built three raised beds up and running with strawberries, cauliflowers, broccoli and spinach. Last of the apples picked,  one fig tree to be planted, lots of daffodil bulbs planted and Dan has made a start digging his pond.  Then an afternoon spent listening to Jarvis on the radio whilst preparing apples, making an apple and blackberry crumble then risotto for tea.

I also caught this track at the start of the Freak Show, worth a listen in a slightly scary way.  The Humbards with their 4 year old twins The WFMU website where I found the track has a whole lot of obscure gems, will have to see what else I can find. For starters there is this corker 'Picking up girls made easy'! or what about 'Charlie the Hamster sings the ten commandments'. Not sure what is worse recording these things or listening to them, but some of these or at least parts are going to end up on CD's in the car :-)

Early night but hopefully we can catch up on the Shoot Derby story at a later date as its being premièred on the big screen tonight.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Morning spent in the city centre, spent a while trying to come up with an image to illustrate 'one looked at his watch' as part of the 'Shoot Derby' project. In the end made a large pocket watch out of cardboard then Lottie and Dan dressed up and sat in the train at the Silk Mill. The queue for the Luminarium was enormous.

After dropping Lottie off at her friends 16th party we headed up to the Blue Bell for Brian's wedding do. Classic wedding disco with some fine dancing on display. Brian confirmed what Scotsmen wear under their kilts before he departed!

A much better nights sleep last night but decide to take it easy as i have an appointment for more Shiatsu at 11.00

Listened to 70 minutes of madness this morning a 15 year old mixtape by Coldcut that has been reissued and is available for download for the next 3 days from Ninja tunes

Evening at the disco at the Market place listening to sets by Simon Groom, Inspector Keen, several Cllrs and Mr Clasby.

Gloria Jones – Tainted Love (1976 Recording)

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Crap nights sleep last night feeling very warm and uncomfortable. Not feeling good all day to be honest, but managed a morning at work and after an afternoon nap took Lottie and Dan to St Benedicts for their music sessions.

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Another 4 hours at work this morning and despite it being a lovely day I took it easy in the afternoon, so I could take Dan to Kayaking this evening and throw a Frisbee for Peggy on Darley Park.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

4 hours at work this morning back home for some music on the sofa and an easy evening.

Monday, September 20, 2010

Heavy workshop went better than I expected this morning. Home to take it easy and listen to some music. Karin has mentioned this Grinderman video a couple of times and I've just got round to watching it. Fabulous in a disturbed way ;-) Heathen Child

Trip to Alter rock again this evening with Dan, starting to feel tired, not sure I'd be up for climbing feeling this tired at the moment. I'll just have to take it very easy once I'm given the ok.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Trip to Harrogate flower show today. National leek, carrot and heaviest onion competitions all very impressive. Spent most of the day sitting on a bench as I was too tired to wander around the halls, but still an interesting day. Came back with some seeds and lots of prize winning flowers that were being given away at the end of the show.

Saturday, September 18, 2010

Morning spent at the revamped Alter Rock with Dan holding his ropes.
Afternoon at the allotment, Lottie and Dan planted Daffs along one of the boundaries whilst I planted Cauliflowers in the raised bed before rain stopped play and we went to the allotment shop for tea and biscuits. Home for some family viewing of Merlin.

Heavy workshop this morning not too bad although I struggled a little and didn't finish my programme but that was mainly due to a game of table tennis :-) Site visit and quick trip to the allotment in the afternoon before coming home to scan a few photos and make Risotto with Lottie.

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Ended up staying at work until one as we had a group photo. I also nipped out on site for half an hour in the afternoon.

Noel had posted an old photo of me on facebook the other day (climbing The Tube at Dover), which got me thinking about searching out some old photos to scan while I have the time. So here are a couple from the same trip.

3 hours at work this morning and once again I didn't feel too bad. A walk around Darley Park after school with Lottie, Dan, Karin and a Sixth former who is helping out with a Geocaching event(Karin is arranging this as part of a Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage event). Then a short walk with the dog whilst Dan was at Kayaking. First time I've had Cathedral Green to my self on a wet dark evening and the light sculpture really stood out. Shame about Jurys Inn!

Monday, September 13, 2010

Took it easy at Heavy Workshop this morning and despite feeling a little tingly things seemed to go OK and I managed to complete most of my programme. Came home to do the Wii balance board bit, my Wii fit age has come down from it suggesting I should have retired, to 29! Not very scientific but somehow it makes you feel a little better.
Took the rest of the day easy and ferried Lottie to Ballet and took Peggy for a short walk as Karin was at the Derby in Bloom presentations tonight.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Trip to the allotment today and I finally get all the raised beds screwed together. Hopefully we will have a delivery of wood chips next week to cover the paths with. Kade, Linda, Ellie and Isaac visit and all the kids are soon set to digging.

Rubbish night again feeling hot and uncomfortable. Trip to see friends in Newark this morning with some fruit picking, peeling and coring apples thrown in. Not feeling great first thing but seemed to improve slightly over the day.

Friday, September 10, 2010

Shiatsu this morning. A good hour and a half session left me like a wobbly jelly and not in a fit state for any of my Heavy Workshop so it was home to bed.

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Feeling a little better this morning. But after a couple of hours at work I was ready for heading home and a lie down. A game of 'Dance on Broadway' this evening with Karin, Lottie and Dan. I didn't really join in to the spirit of things as still feeling knackered, although I won a couple of dances just sat on the sofa!

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

A slow start after a very rough night, popped into work for a couple of hours then back home to bed.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Three hours at work this morning left me feeling pretty wiped out even though I didn't get much done. I did however have a very useful chat with Neil and Sue about my return to work, and got into my email account to delete the two messages a day that I'd received (for the last six months) from the system administrator to let me know that my mail box was closed!
Hope I'm able to gradually build up my hours over the next couple of months.

Monday, September 6, 2010

Didn't feel too bad this morning fairly successful Heavy Workshop but feeling tired by the end of it. Managed 1139m on rowing machine as well as 10mins at a slightly reduced pace on the treadmill without falling off! Home for lunch and a chat with Dean.
Another early night.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Nipped down to the allotment this afternoon to fix the roof of the shed and put together another raised bed. Barbeque, home made wine, veg, cake competition and band laid on by the committee, made for an enjoyable afternoon. Came away with lots of veg not bad for being on the allotment for less than a week. Feeling particularly knackered today, back home for For Your Eyes Only, Transformers and an early night.

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Karin and the kids off to Newark and Belton House today. But I stay put as feeling tired. A day on the sofa watching The Heroes of Telemark and listening to some music.

Friday, September 3, 2010

A leisurely start and a fine breakfast: Pain au Chocolate, followed by Rhubarb Yoghurt and fruit compote with a veggie breakfast served on an oatcake, then toast and honey!
Emptied a skip of some timber on the way home and dropped it off at the allotment then a trip to get some pallets and then some scaffold boards from Shardlow.

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Into work for a couple of hours this morning feeling a little tired so an easy afternoon with a long soak in the bath. Karin gets back from work and we head up to Buxton to book in at the Old Hall Hotel 'possibly the oldest hotel in England' then after a quick bite to eat, across to the Opera House to catch Richard Hawley. A fantastic concert lots of tracks from Trueloves Gutter, a new guitar for every song and an incredibly tight band, special mention to the chap playing the saw. Fantastic cover of Hushabye Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, now that's a scary film. Back to the hotel for a G&T before bed.

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

First morning back at work today. Managed a couple of hours before heading home, to take it easy. Took Dan to Kayaking this evening which was the first indoor pool session after a summer on the river. A shame as it was a lovely evening. I took Peggy for a walk but feeling tired so a very short trip along the riverside path before heading back to wait for Dan.
